Your Library Card

Who can get a library card, how to apply, and how to use your library card.

Anyone can get a library card.  Just come into the library and request one.  We have four categories of patrons:  rural, other county towns, outside county, and Mount Ayr. We do not issue cards, patron information is on the library computer and in a rolodex file.

Books, audio books--CD and Cassettes, puzzles, and magazines are checked out for a two week period.  Materials may be renewed over the phone or email for another two week period. DVD's and video cassettes are checked out for 1 day only but may also be renewed for another day.  Items may be returned to the library during library hours or after hours in the drop box on the west side of the front door. The fine is 10 cents a day for overdue books, audio books, magazines, and puzzles.  The fine for DVD's and video cassettes is twenty-five cents a day.

Patrons can request items for the library to purchase.  They can also "Adopt a Book or an Author."  The library will purchase the book or books by the author of choice.  Book will be bought by patron.  Book will be put into the library system and checked out first to the patron adopting book.

Patrons can request to have books reserved. Library will call when the book is available and will hold the book for one week.I
